DAVID WAINE - Founder/Director
J.P, MMS (Hons), CA, CPP, MNZTA, AFA, MinstD, AICS
David founded Matley Financial Services in 2006. His decision to be called “Matley Financial Services” instead of “Matley Accountants” shows a vision from the start to be more than your standard Accountant – which is lucky as he really is terrible at sitting down and preparing a set of accounts! David has an interest for companies and business in general, with an uncanny ability to reference cases and legislation, as well as being involved in different governance roles in national and local committees.
David is a Trustee of the South Waikato Achievement Trust, the Woodlands Trust at Gordonton, Chair of the South Waikato Community Organisation Scheme (COGS), secretary of the Animal Welfare Foundation and Treasurer of the Waikato JP Association. Outside of work and charity commitments, David loves to add to his growing wine cellar, has a license plate that reads “WISKEY” (tells all), read and spend time with his three children – Heath, Zara and Grace.
KARL RUBY - Tauranga Partner
BAcc, CFE, Dip NZ Police
Karl’s background and life experiences put the rest of us to shame! He joined the Army in 1989 training as a Chef and Volunteer Fireman. He then joined the New Zealand Police in 1996 and was a qualified Detective working on Homicides through to Drug Raids. From there, he decided to take a break from the action and moved to Inland Revenue where he was a Specialist Investigator who loved Fraud and Evasion work and prosecutions. He also met his lovely partner, Megan – good things can come from the IRD! Karl has an Accounting Degree through Massey and is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He plans to commence his Chartered Accounting study in the new year. Karl loves all areas of accounting and is keen on Business Advisory. In his spare time, he likes to be with his family and any outdoor pursuits. Karl is also a Field Team Member and Treasurer of the Tauranga Land Search and Rescue Group, who assist the Police in Wilderness and urban searches on a regular basis in the Bay of Plenty and surrounding districts.
